Chapter 01 · Liberty

Lady Liberty crossed the Atlantic in pieces. Zara meets her at the top — tiny camera flash against one of the most famous torches on Earth.

The statue arrived as 350 pieces packed into 214 crates and was dedicated in 1886.

Chapter 02 · Downtown

Ride.
Fold.
Repeat.

The subway becomes a skate park. A pizza slice becomes a surfboard. In New York, even lunch moves fast.

The first subway opened on October 27, 1904, running from City Hall to 145th Street.

Chapter 04 · Hidden beneath

The city

New York Harbor once held vast oyster reefs. After overharvesting and pollution erased most of them, students, restaurants, scientists, and volunteers began building the habitat back shell by shell.

Billion Oyster Project is working toward restoring one billion oysters to New York Harbor by 2035.
